Bio

Alexander "Sasha" Sidorkin is Chief AI Officer and Director of the National Institute on Artificial Intelligence in Education. A scholar in pedagogy and AI-driven instructional innovation, he previously served as Dean and Professor at California State University, Sacramento, and held leadership roles at institutions in the U.S. and Russia. Author of Embracing Chatbots in Higher Education and The Pedagogy of Relation, his research explores AI’s role in teaching, learning, and institutional change. Title: "AI as Teaching Partner: Transforming Instruction, Assessment, and Learning Outcomes" 

Abstract: From course planning to student feedback, AI tools transform how we teach and learn. The session demonstrates practical applications for both faculty productivity and student engagement. Learn how to use AI for curriculum development, assignment design, and classroom activities. We examine ways to revise learning outcomes by shifting emphasis from procedural knowledge to meta-AI competencies. The presentation includes specific examples of using AI to streamline instructional tasks while maintaining pedagogical quality.

Day 2: 

Title: "Building AI Teaching Tools: Custom Course Bots and Assessment Systems" 

Abstract: The workshop consists of two hands-on demonstrations: (1) creating a course-specific chatbot using your own materials (syllabus, textbook, assignments) and (2) developing AI-assisted grading and assessment strategies. Participants will learn to use AI for evaluating student work, providing feedback, and managing discussion boards.
